Fake News Incidence Rates During the 2016 US Presidential Elections


Analysis of fake news stories in the immediate lead up to the 2016 US election demonstrate that 61% of stories directed at the Campaigns painted the Clinton Campaign in a negative light. 405 fake news stories were directly targeted at the two Campaigns from 27 October to 7 November. The slider for the visualization shows the day-by-day break down of these stories. Hovering the mouse over the chart will show the individual values. Hovering the mouse over the legend shows the day-to-day pattern by category. The 27 October was the significant day, with the most stories negatively directed at both Campaigns.
